AEROSPACE

The aerospace sector manufactures military aircraft, missiles, spacecraft, and commercial aircraft, among many other advanced products such as ground systems, advanced rockets, and unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), commonly referred to as drones. The U.S. aerospace sector is considered the largest in the world and is the main supplier of both military and civil aerospace hardware to the rest of the world.

Our advanced CO2 clean manufacturing technology and products improve aerospace product manufacturing sustainability and profitability, and include highly adaptive solutions for precision cleaning, cooling-lubrication, and surface modification.  Our clean manufacturing solutions address advanced material and process (M&P) challenges during machining, bonding, coating, welding, and assembly, among many other manufacturing and assembly operations, constrained by microscopic particles and surface residues, machining friction and heat, outgassing, or surface energy.  Superhard metals, titanium, performance plastics, silicones, and composites can be processed more effectively and efficiently using our surface treatment technology and products.

CASE STUDY

PARTS CLEANING FOR AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE

USEPA-funded project demonstrated the viability and efficiency of Centrifugal LCO2 (Liquid Carbon Dioxide) immersion cleaning as an alternative to solvent-based cleaning technology. The study showed that Centrifugal LCO2 cleaning, when properly integrated into the maintenance process, could remove various organic and solid contaminants typically removed during vapor degreasing with ozone-depleting solvents.
